Jaipur, popularly known, as Pink City founded by Maharaja
Jai Singh II is the capital of Rajasthan, offering an endless variety of
crafts, gem and jewellery centres. Jaipur is one of the most important cities
in India from the point of tourism. Jaipur is a land of natural beauty and
great history. It has a flourishing tourism industry.
Jaipur has many historical monuments. Here's a beautiful
Description of Jaipur's Monuments.
HAWA MAHAL - Located at Sierh Deori
bazar, Hawa Mahal, literally the Palace of Winds, built in 1799 by Maharaja
Sawai Pratap Singh, displays fanciful architecture and is a remarkable landmark
of Jaipur. So named because the palace has specially latticed screens and
arches for an unbridled flow of the air currents but is a set pattern with the
passage of the sun.
Amer Fort - The Amer Fort is situated in
Amer, which is 11 kilometers from Jaipur. Amer, originally, was the capital of
the state before Jaipur. It is an old fort, built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh.
This fort is also very popularly known as the Amer Palace. The Amer Fort was
built in red sandstone and marble and the Maotha Lake adds a certain charm to
the entire Fort.
JANTAR MANTAR - Emperor Sawai Jai Singh
II, the builder of the city has to his credit five observatories in different
parts of the country. The one he raised at Jaipur is the largest and best
preserved. Huge instruments in intricate masonry offer an accurate measurement
of the time, the declination of the sun, the altitude and the azimuth, the
position of constellations in the sky for the day, the eclipses and the allied
astronomical phenomena.
All
these monuments are the royal examples furnishing the beauty of Jaipur with
pride honours and diligence.
